Dr. Ricardo Crawford, DMD, FACD, FICOI, is a native of Nassau, The Bahamas. He began his academic journey at the College of The Bahamas, earning an Associate of Arts in Biology in 1989. He later obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Concordia College in Minnesota (1991) and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia in 1995, where he graduated with honors in Pediatrics, Periodontics, Endodontics, and Oral Surgery. He was awarded fellowship status in the International Congress of Oral Implantology (2006) and the American College of Dentists (2020).
After returning home in 1995, Dr. Crawford began practicing at Star Dental Clinic before founding Genesis Dental Center Bahamas Ltd. in 2000. His practice provides comprehensive family dentistry with emphasis on restorative, implant, and cosmetic care, and he later expanded services through satellite offices in Abaco and Long Island.
Dr. Crawford has played a significant role in advancing dentistry in The Bahamas. He is a past president and vice president of the Bahamas Dental Association, a past chairman and current Registrar of the Bahamas Dental Council, and the developer of the first Bahamas National Dental Board Exam. Internationally, he served as Vice President for the Caribbean and Canadian Region of the Commonwealth Dental Association (2015–2017) and as The Bahamas’ National Liaison Officer to the FDI World Dental Federation.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Crawford is deeply committed to service. For over a decade, he has served as priest warden on the vestry of St. Ambrose Anglican Church and has been actively involved in outreach initiatives providing dental care to underserved communities throughout The Bahamas. In recognition of his dedication, he was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal at the National Order of Service ceremony in October 2025.
Dr. Crawford is married and the proud father of two daughters. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys traveling, boating, gardening, cooking, reading, and most of all, spending time with his family.
